A Life Well Lived

Jeff Koenig was born on June 29th, 1961 to David and Katherine (Katie) Koenig, in Gillette, Wyoming. Jeff attended high school in Bennett, CO where he graduated in 1979. He then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance and double minor in economics and management in 1984.

Following graduation Jeff worked as an accountant for Pepsi and Natkin. He then worked as an actuary for National Farmers Union, where he transitioned to a Human Resources role. This is where his love for human resources started – Jeff continued on working in human resources for 37 years, finishing off as the U.S. Director of Talent Acquisition for Colas. He always talked about how fortunate he felt to be able to work at Colas, his passion curated great friendships and opportunities for not only him but all those around him.

Jeff lived a life of love for many things but the most evident was his family, friends, his job, and, as anyone who's ever met him knows, all things pop culture. He was so proud of the family he came from and the close relationships they had. Jeff created this for his own family with Dana and it was his greatest joy and biggest accomplishment. Jeff was a spouse, brother, father, and grandfather who deeply cared for each and every person within his family. Large parties, Christmases, and The Oscars were his Super Bowl and something everyone looked forward to every year.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, David Koenig, his mother Katherine (Katie) Koenig, and his sister, Cynthia (Cindy) Barnes. Jeff is survived by his wife of 39 years Dana Koenig and their children, Annika Koenig McElhinney (Dillon), Korben Koenig, Zoe Koenig Venditte (Alex), his brother Jacob Koenig (Pam), sister Karla Koenig Campfield (Gary), Doug Barnes, and his grandchildren Abel Koenig, Eden Koenig, and baby McElhinney.
